First grade is an amazing year for children and their parents. Children will wave good-bye to their parents each morning and enter the new world of first grade to become independent thinkers and learners, to make positive decisions and learn how to manage themselves and their things. It will be my goal, as their teacher, to provide them with support, lots of love, and an environment that is engaging and exciting to promote learning. I want your children to be successful in the classroom environment and have an “I Can Do This” attitude. Above all, I want your children to know they are loved by their parents, by their family, by their teachers, and by their school village at all times.
Your children will experience many hands-on activities to build their confidence and develop their abilities and independence throughout the year. My goal is to create a joyful environment that fosters curiosity and opens the students up to taking risks. You may even hear your child say…..”You learn from your mistakes…” and it is ok.
Our class will have about 28 students, so it is important to me that I provide my students with consistency and routines so they know what to expect. Organization plans a big part of our success in learning and growing into independence, I will count on you to help me with this throughout the year.
